Could my 3 month old be teething?

My DS is a very smiley, contented, laid back baby. He sleeps well, even though he hasn't really liked us changing the routine and putting him into his moses basket in the day to sleep - with the view to him sleeping, not just cat napping.

That said, this past week he's been a little cranky. Keeps trying to stuff his fist into his mouth - thought he had found his fingers, but he also seems to gnaw on fist. He does this in his sleep too. His right cheek is redder than right and quite rough. He breaks into bursts of real crying and it takes a while to settle him out of it, which is unusual - but I thought it might be overtiredness as he's not sleeping as much in the day the past couple of days as he has been.

My point is, I'm trying not to assume symptoms are teething - but could they be? How can I find out? He seems a bit young, no?

3 months not too young ime. DD2 started teething about 3 months and cut first tooth at 5 months. It does sound like teething to me, read up on other symptoms and treatments. DD2 has calgel and likes to chew on soft toys and calpol when it's really bad but there are loads of treatments for teething babies out there.
