Hi there

Just back from Parent's evening where one thing the teacher mentioned was that in one particular classroom DS1 was struggling to read the problem on the board (white?), although she hadn't noticed any problems in her own classroom.

What do I do about this? Do I ask HV to get us an appt at the hospital or just go to my local optician and get a free eye test (which I believe are free). Incidentally, he passed the eye test at school which they carried out in Reception.

Thanks, in advance.

Just get an appointment at a local optician - they'll test his eyes for free and you can go from there.

I would ask around other parents of children with glasses & find out which opticians have a good reputation with kids eye tests and just book yourself in - much easier, and as you say, all children's tests are free.

Make an appt at your local, child friendly optician. I wouldn't bother with the big chains - you need somewhere nearby, preferably near school so that if your child does needs glasses you can get there easily and quickly and then when your child loses/breaks said glasses you can get replacements quickly!

The eye test is free - as are the glasses up to a certain amount.
