Anyone know about conjunctivitis??

DD has confirmed bacterial conjunctivitis. She has had it for over a week, anti-b drops for 2 days (I thought it might clear on its own).

Anyway yesterday she developed what looked like a white head on her actual eyeball (not the coloured bit) today it is bigger and looks like a swollen lump. Also her eye started wandering/pulling in to the corner. I took her to the walk in centre and the nurse said 'oh maybe she has a lazy eye and you haven't noticed it before Hmm (she is 11 mths) She checked it with her torch and it pulled in again.

Her eye is still leaking a ton of green/yellow gunk everywhere, its bright red and swollen and she is scratching and pulling it all the time. This doesn't sound like 'normal' conjunctivitis to me, would you take back to the GP or wait another few days for the anti-bs to start working?

Yes, I would take her back to the GP. The lump doesn't sound right - could be a cyst on her eyeball (which I believe do go so don't worry).

Thanks, hadn't heard of a cyst on the eyeball before!

Neither had I until I saw something on TV last week. This guy had lived with it and it was fine (he had a different problem that needed sorted out).

Do you have a specialist eye hospital near you? If so take her there, it's likely they will have an A&E department with specialist eye doctors at hand. If not I would take her back to her GP or drop in centre for a second opinion. Can't be too careful with eyes! If your DD has had an infection for a while and this has caused her not to be able to see as well as usual, it could cause a lazy eye, apparently it only takes a couple of days in such a young child and if this is the case you will need a referral to a specialist to fix it asap. Are you managing to get the drops in ok? I know it's hard when they're so little but it really is vital.

Getting the drops in v hard, DH is pinning her whilst I do them.

No better today in fact the lump/spot is bigger, GP tomorrow I think!
