nappy rash

My 1 year old DD has had diarrea for the last couple of days, having to change her nappy every hour. she is still eating and drinking although not her usual chirpy health.

This has left her with a very sore bottom - very red and it must be so sore as when I wipe it she is screaming.

I have stopped using wipes and changed to just water and cotton wool and using loads of sudacrem.

Is there anything else I can use to help her? At what point should I contact the Dr for something stronger to help?

thanks.

Try Metanium - bright yellow but works like a dream.

If it's open sores see the GP my DS was prescribed a low dose hydrocortisone cream for this problem.

My mother raised 11 children and never had nappy rash. She gave the baby milk of magnesia, a few drops, or equivalent, an alcoline to offset the acid, in the baby bottle. But don't do that too much. As magnesia is powerful stuff if used over longer periods.

Maybe a chemist has a baby equivalent. That cools the acid tummy and the rash will need air to heal. Let the nappy off if you can.
