dd was diagnosed with this 2 weeks ago and has completed a course of antibiotics but is still unwell.
we have been back to the Drs and another urine sample has been sent off, we are still waiting for results.
dd is getting sharp abdominal pains, when asked to point out where it hurts it is her stomach. The pains are so sharp that she doubles over or curls her legs up when in bed. She has no fever but occasionally feels sick, but hasn't vomited at all. she is not eating as much as normal but is drinking lots.
Dr said give her calpol, which she is having 3 or 4 times a day. she is off school and we have been waiting since monday for test results now.
I feel like we should be doing more, not just giving calpol.
Any thoughts on this please?

update to above is that the results are back but need to be repeated as Dr says the lab have grown something weird that would be treated with intra venous drugs but that she thinks is a contaminant.
so we have to take another sample to the drs in the morning and begin the wait again.
i am powerless to do anything to help dd except give her calpol. It will be Monday before the results are back.
I could scream.

My DD, aged 5 has just had a urinary infection and was quite poorly. After 3 days of AB's she improved no end. Now a week on she is back to normal.

Like pixie said, your DD shouldn't be suffering like that so I would get her seen sooner rather than wait for more results.

I hope it all gets sorted for her, it sounds horrid.
