or do you think this is his body getting rid of the worms. Im sure he has ahd them for a few weeks as he had an increased appetite and bad breath.

However it was only last weekend that he had a tummy ache and a temp but not an itchy bottom until wednesday night. It was only then I twigged that it was thread worms. So i cleaned and medicated us all on thursday with some thing from boots. Ive been changing towels, linen and clothes daily. As well as damp dusting and hoovering, bathing in the morning etc im exhausted but worried that he may have been re-infected or as a heavy infestation if he is still complaining of tummy ache. The thing is he has a very sweae tooth so they probably thrived in his tummy.

What else should or could i be doing? Can i put vasilene on their bottom at night will that stop the eggs spreading? feeling yucky and at the end of my tether as this is the 2nd time he has caught them since starting school.Ive fired an email to the headmaster as even though ive reported it tey haven't sent a letter home asking parents to check im so annoyed.

Sounds more like a virus to me! He may have had worms as well, but really does sound like something viral...there are lots of diarrhoea bugs going round, with tummy aches etc.

I once asked my uncle (who was a doctor in Africa all his working life, and knows a lot about parasites of all kinds!) about the sugar thing, and he said if you treat worms with mebendazole eating sugar will make no difference at all - they will die anyway.

Also, FWIW, I hoover and dust etc the first day, after changing all the linen, but don't do it daily anymore - just repeat two weeks later after re-dosing. Its done the job just as well as the first time I suspected threadworm in my eldest, and nearly killed myself cleaning!

Don't forget to cut his nails short, and do lots of hand washing - but honestly, I think the poor lad has a tummy bug.

I'd say its probably the medicine. DD years ago had worms and I rememebr her having the shits after she had the medicine. And I have a vague memory of me being the same about 30 years ago.

thankyou wasn't sure if it was the bodies way of ejecting them iykwim. Feel relieved about the whole cleaning issue though phew I can calm down a bit. He seems fine now after passing what ever was in his system. But I will keep an eye on him.

Feel bad about not detecting he has thread worms sooner but he didnt have a itchy bottom until last week hate to think about how long he's had them as he's been constantly hungry last few weeks i thought it was just a growth spurt Hmm

My son had worms a few times last year and the medicine caused him to have a runny poo and tummy ache. I thought he had a bug.

For the second tablet - same happened. So I twigged it was probably the meds.

The next time he had suspected worms we got another brand and he was ok with that brand.

Don't feel bad about not catching them - they are really hard to see and won't do your DS any permanent harm. I had worms repeatedly as a child and my stomach and guts are (normally) failsafe.

Thankyou Kenobi Smile just felt I should of know and treated him sooner as he's had them before. But the symptoms appeared in a different order this time. Never thought something like this could be so stressfull. It really groses you out doesn't it.

I would try Pripsen ( think it is called that). We had problems with Ovex and the lady in the chemist said the Boots one was the same as Ovex..

How long do thread worms take to die once Ovex is taken. We all had a dose on Monday night and I checked my son's poo tonight - Wednesday (the things we do !) and they were still in there all wrigglying about. I was mortified. I have been cleaning the house daily - (I do anyway) and changing sheets etc. I am exausted and was so disappointed to see them still there.
