Chiropractor for ear problems??? Any experience

Ds2(3) has the most rubbish Eustachian tubes in the universe.

We are way past counting ear perforations. 18months ago he had grommets fitted. A few months later one got chronicly infected and he needed another op to get it out. Last week the other grommet came out as it should, and this week he perforated the ear drum AGAIN.

Have put off another grommets op for 3 months to investigate alternatives. Read good things about chiropractor treatment for ear problems in kids.

Anyone got any experience, and anyone know how I track down a chiropractor for kids, or can he just see a regular chiropractor?

Hi LL. I've had terrible trouble with my ears since birth, almost constant ear infections, perforations, and when I was pregnant I had labyrinthitis.

I've had chiropractic treatment but only as an adult and I think it helped, a lot of work to the head (obviously) but also my jaw and neck. She also used some accupuncture on me.

I know this is very controversial but I also saw a homeopathist for my ears and really bad eczema on my hands and again felt it was very worthwhile and have continued this.

Thanks Holly. I am wiling to try pretty much anything for him. I am not saying a permanent no to surgery but would like to give some other stuff a shot first.

Hi, I haven't used a chiropractic but I my son had chronic glue ear and I changed his diet. Eliminating as many dairy products as was possible and replacing them with goats milk and soya products. This helped him.

I know how you feel and really know how your DS feels, it is truly horrible and you'd do anything for relief of the pain and on-going situation.

Presumably he's got a great ENT consultant?

Agree with Yvieb about reducing (or even eliminating) dairy products as they are mucus forming and can create congestion in the eustachian tube. Apparently introducing a probiotic can also help. Anything is worth a try!

Hi - been offline due to illness, hence slow reply.

I put both my boys on a probiotic last year, just a daily chewable tablet and its made a world of difference in my opinion.

We had a great ENT consultant but unfortunately she retired, and since then we have been bounced about between different covers while they sort out the teams. But I have been impressed with the drs I've seen. I have been a bit daunted by how much emphasis they put on me when we are making decisions but they take the time to answer all my questions and provide me with a lot of information.

I've tried soy and goats milk but just cannot get it past him, and am very conscious of the need for strong healthy bones. I might take a look at that milk that is advertised on telly for people who can't have cows milk but is still cows milk.

Thanks all for your input.
