5 yo with pins and needles................

My 5 yo dd said that yesterday at school she fell over after getting up from sitting cross legged on the carpet and that her leg 'ached' - after asking her some questions i think she meant she got pins and needles and had that funny sensation of when it dosn't feel like your foot is touching the floor when it goes dead...........is it common for kids of this age to get pins and needles?.........
I'm concerned as I've sufferred with back pain since I was in my early teens and more recently knee pain and have within the last year been diagnosed by a podiatrist as not walking correctly because the mechanics of my foot/ankle movements aren't right (he suspects right from when I first started to walk) which is likely to have caused my back and knee problems (a diagnosis 30 years too late!!!)
I remember as a child at school sitting cross legged in assembly and then having awful pins and needles whereby I couln't feel my foot at all when i stood up - I now wonder if this was caused by my bad ankle/foot positioning. What dd told me yesterday is ringing alarm bells.......God forbid, she has the same problem with her feet and legs Sad. Am I panicking for nothing - is it common for young children to get pins and needles after sitting like this - has you dc ever complained of it?
She also will also often complain of aching legs/arms/you name it - she can be a drama queen so have just brushed them off as nothing or 'growing pains' - these comlaints don't seem to really bother her or last for too long. She did once crick her neck when she was about 3 when going to get out of bed - I also cricked my neck badly as a child when putting on a jumper although I wasn't as young as her. I am just so paranoid she's inherrited my problem that I'm beginning to lose persepctive on what are just normal aches and pains. thanks if you've got this far. x.

My 3 boys get pins & needles when they're static (lol not often) so I think it's normal. I'd have a chat with your Dr though if I'm honest as I think s/he would reassure you. Worrying is never good for Mummies!
