chicken pox without being ill?

I have just noticed DD has spots that look a bit like chicken pox spots but not blistered. However they are located around her nappy waistband apart from one above her lip and one on her shoulder. I first thought they were a reaction to a nappy but then noticed the other two. She hasn't been unwell in terms of temperature/loss of appetite though. Could it be bites from something?

I posted about something similar earlier today.

My DS is five and a half years old and has been up and down the last couple of weeks with a cold / cough and slight temperature. Then a few days ago I noticed spots appear. They are bright red and raised, on his tummy, hips, bottom and tops of his thighs, and one random one behind his knee. They have pretty much stayed the same for two days now, with maybe a few more appearing but it hasn't spread anywhere else - nothing on his chest, back, arms, neck or face.

I'm also wondering if this is a mild form of chickenpox as I know some children only get minor symptoms.

I have decided to take him to the docs tomorrow just to see what she says, as if it is chickenpox then I need to know.

I'll let you know what she says.

thanks. hers are spots and then around the spot is quite red (so about 1cm diameter of redness). She was 'warm' yesterday - 37.4-37.5 but not unwell
Since she seems fine in herself (fingers crossed it will stay that way), if it is chicken pox I'm worried about taking her to docs in case she infects people...

When mine got chickenpox neither got ill beforehand...well there was one iscolated vomit exactly a week before but nothing untilthe spots appeared,dd was fine barely noticed she had them DS1 was a spotty hot mess when he had the spots after getting them off her.

Both mine had chicken pox without being ill. If it is, she'll probably have more spots tomorrow - once a few more come up it's clearer what it is.

My DD had a similar amount of spots as yours and seemed fine, leaping around the garden etc, when she was 2. I assumed it was a very mild case of chicken pox, but then she woke me up in the middle of that night absolutely covered from head to toe and was very poorly. I hope this isn't the case with your DD!

tomatoesontoast · 07/02/2011 22:23

oh dear I really hope that doesn't happen to DD sandyballs. IF she has more spots in the morning can I still take DD1 to nursery - not sure if she's had it - doctor said she 'may' have had it a couple of years back but wasn't sure Hmm

no extra spots this morning - does that mean it's not chicken pox?

It could just be a mild case of it then. My other DD only had it very mildly, despite sharing her sisters drinks, dummies etc.

I am immunie to chickenpox (found out through blood test) but my mum swears blind that I never, ever had it as a child. So it must be possible to have it with little or no rash, I am thinking.

narmada · 08/02/2011 09:26

or immune even Blush

tomatoesontoast · 08/02/2011 09:55

so should I keep her indoors just in case? I have to take my other DD to nursery though..
