I think there is more than one cause for pale loose stools. Take DD and a sample to the doctor. Please don't adjust her diet in any way until you have a diagnosis.
We did this. The doctor told us DD was probably coeliac, and would need a GF diet. We did it straight away, got to GOSH for the biopsy which is THE test to actually diagnose, to find that she had to go back on gluten for 3-6 months. This would have been incredibly painful for her if we had done it. Our eagerness to help her, could have actually set her back considerably.

thanks both. Saggy I don't quite understand - which bit would have been painful? What did they say about your dd in the end? Hope she's ok now. My dd seems fine in other respects. But I will ring GP and try and get a sample.

Sorry, the three to six months on gluten would have been very painful. Once they go on GF, the damage repairs itself and to have the gastroscopy you have to be on gluten for anything to show up! sorry. I'm going on a bit, and your DD is probably fine. Is just quite emotive for me! Smile

DD is coeliac, but never got a gastroscopy so never had a formal diagnosis. FWIW, yellow stools were never part of her symptoms, although I know it can be.

Thanks, and hope your dd getting on ok. I think i've exaggerated by saying yellow but they are often quite loose and orangey. Think I will observe more closely for a week or so and then speak to GP if still concerned.

I was going to ask a very similar question about DS who is 3, he virtually never has solid poos and I'm starting to think that something's not quite right. What a pain if he's coeliac :( Will make an appointment at GP.
