8 week old acid breath

My 8 week old DS is pretty content, especially given he's already been in hospital for a week and had an operation. He feeds really well - ff - and sleeps and is grizzly sometimes but not too bad.

But he has possetted a few times - a tablespoon or so of some curdled looking milk. His tongue has a lot of white crap on then, and he smells acidy.

I assume it's some form of reflux - but at what point does this become beyond the usual thing for babies and require medication? I mean, does the above sound like I should go to the doctor?

oh, am interested to know the answer to this as my baby is dispaying some of these symptoms too.

This could be silent reflux - DS has this. It's not like normal possetting which was fresh milk coming up.

We were prescribed infant gaviscon which did little, then ranitidine which was much better.

I'd keep a note of symptoms for a week - sudden bouts of crying, wriggling/discomfort, back arching etc and take that to the GP. It usually gets worse peaking at around 3/4 months then better at 6 months.

If DS is feeding well and not displaying any of iggly's signs, the acidy smell is normal, the stomach is full of hydrochloric acid which will come up a little after a big feed.
