Molluscum virus

Does anyone know how to remove the spots, caused by the virus? My Dd, aged 9 has had them in the last three years. Her GP has refused to remove them, and they keep spreading around her torso. She sometimes scratches them unvoluntarily, causing possibillity of infection. It is also highly contagious, other children might get infected. When we are on holiday, in my country of birth, we have them removed very easylly and almost without much pain. The dermatologist just scratches them with a small curetage and they fall off. Unfortunately, we are unable to travel in the near future and I am worried, the spots are becoming larger and it will be more difficult to remove.
Any advise will be appreciated.

Hi there, my DD and DS have both had this and I was told about small amounts of neat tea tree oil once a day on cotton wool. It dried them up in a week or so.
hope this helps!!

You just have to wait it out. They do go eventually. I believe its the same as the wart virus in that given enough time they kill themselves. Sure that's not the technical explanation! DD had them for a year or so and they never seemed to bother her. Just went of their own accord after a couple of years. I believe the reason GPs don't them remove them in the UK is that they just keep coming back.

The doctor told me that they don't like to do anything about it unless they have to as it's quite an unpleasant process for the child - and more likely to scar.
I do know of a child who has had antibiotics for an infection after scratching.

My DD's had a few behind her knees for a couple of years. I just put antibacterial cream on. But tea tree sounds a good idea thanks.

Go to a homeopath, it's a very easy virus to treat and your child will recover quickly. My daughter had it and I was amazed at how quickly it went after taking Thuja. Good luck. Doctors are pretty useless at dealing with it imo. It is a higly contagious virus,so doing nothing will pass it on, esp if you take your child swimming/ share towels.
