Constantly ill since having flu before Christmas

Me and my 5 year old had really bad flu the week before christmas which seemed to drag on for about 2 weeks. Since then we've been totally exhausted, last week she had a crampy stomach all week and now this weekend she has developed a really horrible chesty cough and is wheezy. We're off to the doctor this morning but I'm just wondering if its all linked to the flu or if she's just really unlucky and is now getting one thing after another.
Weirdly I seem to be getting everything she gets as well. We had the funny tummy in tandem last week and then yesterday I woke up with a tight chest (didn't mention it to her) and she started her hacking cough and started saying her chest hurts!

Good luck at the doctors. I feel much the same as you describe so I will be interested to hear what your doctor says. I am coughing so much I keep feeling light headed. :(

Hello
Thank you all for your replies.
Saw the doctor. He gave her a very good check, Said her glands are up and the back of her throat is a bit red but her chest isn't infected. She needs lots of vitamin c and rest. He said that he's seen a few kids who had flu badly over christmas come back in since school restarted having picked up other viruses. He said it can knock their immune system for 6 and it takes quite a long time for them to get back to full strength.

I feel for you Clux my DD and DH had flu all throughout the xmas holidays.

DH is still coughing and a bit wheezy, DD is still 'off' she tires easily and has a dodgy tummy on and off, but nothing you can really put your finger on.

I am hoping it all goes away soon and we can get back to normal.

I have bought all sorts of fruit (even not in season strawbs etc) and she scoffs it, she ate half a pomegranite yesterday, so hoping its magic makes her feel a bit better.

Hi Jax
Sorry to hear you're suffering with it too.

I've been buying the out of season fruit too - blackberries, raspberries and they are eating loads of it. They always do eat loads of fruit but I'm going to start giving them vitamin tablets too - can't do any harm!

no it wont harm, think I am going to get those kiddies ones for my lot. I know that DH has been taking them recently too.

I woke up covered in sweat (sorry TMI) last night and feel pretty dopey today. Hope I am not getting whatever the rest of the household have had.

Our family has also had several viruses since before Christmas and it seems never ending. I am taking my DD to the GP this Thursday as she has had it worst, coughing (she has asthma) and loss of appetite for along time now.

We have borrowed my MIL juicer and are making carrot juice with orange juice twice a day. I hope it helps.

A word of advice on the out of season fruit: This fruit travels so far to get to you that many nutrients are lost. You are much better off buying frozen fruit for juices / smoothies - cheaper and more nutrients.

I just got 3 x bags of frozen fruit on offer i Sainsbury's. I am going to add a handful to the carrot juice today, I think it will be lovely.

I hope you all get well soon.
