Infant teething

Not sure if this is the right place to post or not.
My 7 week old DD has started to drool a lot over the last week and last night and the night before we had a massive crying session where she just would not sleep and needed to be comforted by myself or her father (when he finally got in from work at about 9pm and I was pulling my hair out!).

This is unlike her. So far she has cried for a reason - hungry, dirty, too hot etc, but last night she had to be rocked and held etc and even then she would only settle for a few mins and then she was off again.

We are beginning to wonder if there is the possibility of her teething early. I know that officially the NHS say babies teeth around 6 months but they are always generous with their timelines and I don't think their info is always accurate and certainly doesn't cover everyone.

Has anyone heard of/had a baby who started to teeth early. Or do you think it is just a change in behaviour.

She is eating more frequently (bottle fed) over the last few days and is generally grumpier. No fever and she is well in every other way. She was happy on her changing mat this morning and then half an hour later was in a grump again which is strange as normally she is a delight in the morning.

I don't know - I suppose DH and I just want there to be a reason for it, but is teething at this age possible?

Mine started teething from three months, drooling is the start. I have heard that babies can be born with teeth. G.P should be able to tell you pretty quickly.

hiya, My little one started teething before 3 months I'm sure, and didn't get any teeth till he was about 9 months! But one thing I am sure has made a difference is natural amber teething beads. My cousin recommended them - she lives in Oz and they are really popular over there as well as other parts of Europe where they are available on the high street. You can wear them from birth and Ill defo get another set for my next arrival due in April. I can't find any research on them but my neighbour copied me and she swears they work too. I got mine from badlydressedboy.co.uk I hardly ever have trouble with teething now, but there are some occasions when i just have to reach for the calpol! (I think you can only use it from 3 months though).

My DD started teething between 6 and 8 weeks. No one believed me until I made the nurse feel her gums where there were definite protrusions. She's now 13 weeks and no teeth are through yet but the beginnings of teeth are visible under the gums and she's in a lot of pain. Sorry I'm not much help with making it better - desperate to find good remedies myself! But trust your instincts - if you think she's teething then she probably is.
