Have just bought some Infacol, it says 'sugar free' but contains sweeteners, we don't give them to our kids and pregnant women are now advised to avoid them so I don't want to give them to my newborn, anyone know anything else I can try to ease babies wind?

Gripe water is good, administer in a syringe. Sadly, it no longer contains alcohol!

How old is your baby? We didn't use anything for either of our DSs - just tried to keep upright after a feed, massage back etc. Holding the boys over his arm and cradling their head in his hand while he walked around kind of bouncing them worked wonders for my husband and got them to sleep too! :)

Also, are you breastfeeding? Certain foods can make babies a bit windy!

Which foods? Is milk bad?

Sugar water is good, just add a tiny bit in some boiled cooled water and is great for bringing wind up...my dd didnt like Woodwards Gripe water but would tolerate Boots own which is a nicer flavour..

Forgot-in Germany it is usual to use fennel tea for baby's wind. Totally natural.

I personally wouldnt use sugar water but I would second the recommendation for fennel tea. Drink it yourself if you are breastfeeding - it gets through somehow :) It is a bit of a guessing game to figure out what can cause sore tummies. For us dairy was one, oranges for ds1, lentils and broccoli for my nephew! Try keeping a food diary yourself so you can see what acts as a trigger. Sometimes thesy grow out of it within a few weeks/months other times it can last longer - ds1 is 4 now and he still can't eat oranges!

I think my German friend gave fennel tea by the spoon. Google it to make sure though.

Try the feeding board on here. Chamomile and/ or peppermint teawere good too although I always drank them myself rather than give them directly.
