persistant low grade fever

My 16-month-old DS has been running a low grade fever since before Christmas (so around 3 weeks now)It fluctuates between 37.4 - 37.9 - has not been over 38.
Apart from feeling slightly hot when I touch him there is nothing wrong with him - no cough,no runny nose, has good appetite, is happy, sleeps well.
We went to GP last week with an urine sample (which was clear)and she put it all down to mild cold and teething.
Has anyone experienced the same with toddlers? It just plays on my mind that it's been going on for a while. I do worry that it could be something more serious.

My DS had this last year. Doctor wasn't interested and in the end it cleared up. I was paranoid because he had previously had lots of chest infections, but nothing did ever come of this one. Hope your DS is ok.

Yes, DS did that a few years ago when he was 4, I think. Same thing, constant low grade fever, nothing else. I ran the batteries out on my thermometer many times because I got so paranoid about his temperature. His doctor wasn't interested in it either, and said his normal temperature must just be hotter than the average person's (even though it never was before). After several months it came down.

Normal fluctuations in temperature can go up to 37.8- even just from running around. Fevers are above 38. I wouldn't worry tbh. It's more important how they are acting and if he's running around as normal then he's fine :)

Hey this is a late comment but my daughter is having the same. She is hot all the time and temperature is ALWAYS 37.4 or above it never goes lower and has been like that for months. I have been to to the doctors and they are referring her to a pediatrician I’ve been told it needs to be checked x have u had any answers xx

@RhianonS10 another late comment. I'm going through the same symptom with my DS 18 months. Did anything ever come of the referral to the paediatrician?

@m1s @RhianonS10 Teen DD had the same earlier this year - fever for 3 months straight. Eventually it resolved itself and she is fine now but the cause is still a complete mystery! I lost track of the amount of GP trips and blood tests she had, we were even sent to A&E and admitted over a weekend when it got particularly high but again everything came back normal. The GP’s next plan was to investigate for endocarditis but thankfully the fevers settled before this was needed.

Sorry to not be of much help but just wanted to sympathise. I felt that some doctors thought that we were being over dramatic or she was faking it, even had one consultant tell us to buy a new thermometer as there was no way she could have a temp that long!
