DS 6.8 hasn't lost any milk teeth yet?

Should I be concerned at all?

We have had to move the check up at the dentists a couple of times and aren't due to go until February now.

Any experience or thoughts?

I wouldn't worry at all.

DS1 was 7.5 before his first tooth fell out. DS2 is 6.7 and his aren't wobbly yet so looks as though he will be the same.

DS didn't lose any teeth until he was approaching 8, I think.

Catsmamma · 05/01/2011 13:39

My lot were all late to lose baby teeth

...only problem is dd may need braces and still has one waiting to fall out, our orthodontist won't do work if they have baby teeth still.

Thanks very much everyone. All the other children in his class seem to have started loosing theirs, some even started aged 4.

Was just wondering really, glad that it's obviously not that rare Smile

Ds was quite old when he lost his first ones may have been 7 or 8.
Is your DS in any pain at all? If not I wouldn't worry unduly and talk to the dentist in feb.

Rockbird · 05/01/2011 13:48

Was he late getting them? My niece took years to get her teeth and now at 8 has only lost the front 4.

paddingtonbear1 · 05/01/2011 13:50

I wouldn't worry - dd is 7.5 and has only lost 1 so far.

StillSquiffy · 05/01/2011 13:51

My DS is over 7 and only recently lost his first two. He spent 6 months with 'shark teeth' whiche he was very proud of, and the dentist was completely unconcerned about both the shark teeth and the fact that he hadn't lost his teeth by age of 7.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 05/01/2011 14:13

He's not in any pain thankfully. Glad to hear too that the dentist seemed unconcerned StillSquiffy.

Will wait to see what he says in Feb.

Same here JiltedJohnsJulie (I just love that name, showing my age here - yeah yeah, it's not fair!) - ds1 got to 8 without losing any - it's a good thing, honest!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 05/01/2011 14:53

paws think that's pretty much how DS looks on the tooth fairy coming to all his friends and not him.

Yeah, yeah, it's not fair!

If it helps, we told ds1 that the tooth fairy pays more for clean and healthy teeth .... that certainly seemed to soften the blow a little. Especially when ds2 lost his first tooth before ds1 did .....

JiltedJohnsJulie · 05/01/2011 15:47

Thanks paws. Will be using that line next time the conversation crops up. Smile

Bet he's chuffed then :)

The later the better, I reckon.

morethanyoubargainfor · 03/02/2011 16:55

my ds is 8.4 and not a wobble in sight yet, he is very dissapointed about it as all of his friends have lost atleast 6 each!

morethanyoubargainfor · 03/02/2011 16:56

I don't know if is related to how early they cut thier first teeth as ds didn't start to teeth until he was nearly 2!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 03/02/2011 17:02

Could be then more Smile

My ds didn't lose his first till well past 7 years. He has still only lost 3 and he is 9 in April! His milk teeth have practically worn away to stumps! OUr dentist isn't worried.

NorthernGobshite · 03/02/2011 18:02

Friends little boy is 7 and hasn't lost a tooth yet. It's fine.
