Diarrhoea in 11 month old - bug or food intolerence??

My DD has had very liquid poos for nearly a week. She had something similar a month ago and after about a week it cleared up - I spoke to the HV at the time who said try cutting out dairy (apart from her usual milk), and either this worked or DD got better of her own accord.

Here we are just a few weeks later and it has come back. She is only going twice a day max (in fact she did not go at all for over 24 hours), so it is not frequent but when she does go it is yellow and goes EVERYWHERE - just had to bath the poor thing. She seems ok in herself although off her food.

My question is - is this a tunmmy bug or is it something different like a food intolerence? The reason I am wondering is that she is not going very often and does not seem poorly - although is very quiet around the time she needs to go and after she has gone.

Any one have any similar experiences / advice? I am worried she is not eating well, and may not be taking what she needs from she is eating as it all comes out again! and I am pushing it at work taking time off work as she can not go to nursery with diarrhoea!

If you use formula try switching to one of the soya ones (Infasoy mildly less cack tasting than Wysoy), or if you are BF and/or expressing cut cows milk out of your own diet.

My youngest had a touchy gut for many months and soya seemed to firm things up in general. Now he's 13 months he's on full cows milk and all is fine so no long standing problem in his case.

At that age and stage they can pick up nasty after nasty and it's so upsetting so much sympathy. Pediatric Kaolin is something I keep in the cabinet if they're getting a very sore bum from the runs, it is essentially just chalky water, but slows things down a bit to give their bums a break. You can get it from the chemist. And the old favourites of egg as a bunger upper if she's allowed it (can't remember the rules on egg but fairly sure DS had it at 11 months).
