DD2 (3) suddenly has a wondering eye...!?!

She was born with all sorts of problems, but her eyes have so far been totally normal, every indication that her sight was fine. I have a profoundly deaf family so we're a little 'aware' of the senses if that makes sense... pun not intended there!

Anyway, I digress. DD2 had a chest infection that seemed to go on forever, as they do! But around 3 weeks ago, we noticed that she was squintint her right eye as if she was straining to use it, or there was a hair in it or something. Then about a week ago, we noticed that it now goes all over the place, and she seems to go into a little trance for a good 30 seconds or so. I assume she is trying to focus or something. So, the left eye is normal, but the right eye is all over the place, it seems to be a little worse as each day goes by!!!!

So, do I take her to the GP, opticians or paediatrician!? How on earth do they do eye tests on children? Help please - the rate at which it is worsening is making me think I can't leave this any longer!!!

She hasn't mentioned any pain of any sort and would have if there was any bother as she got a doctors set for Christmas and loves being the doctor - any pain and she's on it. She even diagnosed DH as dead!!! Grin

Might need a bit of help please Grin

We have ordered the glasses from Boots and they should arrive on or before 17th, they're bubblegum pink and they are gorgeous!

The lady suggested we get a nice case which we have, but I thought we should get one of those sports bands/straps that holds the glasses on. I can't find any decent ones anywhere! I've googled and found a couple on ebay but they're not very girlie - all the rest are adult ones. Does anybody know where we could buy a strap that's a bit more girlie/kiddie??!!??

TIA Smile

Well, we picked up her glasses this afternoon and they are gorgeous! So far she has tried to take them off a few times but I guess that's to be expected! On the whole she seems to be fine with them, she was so excited on the way to getting them! I've uploaded a picture of her with them on. Thank you all for the support SmileGrin

bribery and corruption!! Promise of a dvd or painting, craft work, etc

Good idea! So far we've been playing a game that if she hasn't got the glasses on, we can't see her, she resisted for a while but soon twigged and put them back on! I think we'll also be resorting to bribary too, deep joy! Grin

She's gorgeous!

Awwww thanks! I agree but then I am biased Grin

I had to be quite firm with her last night - she didn't want to wear the glasses for story time so I said no story, kept checking with her but she didn't want a story (so she said!). When I put her to bed she pleaded with me and said she would put them on but I told her we would try again tomorrow (today). Tonight was a breeze and she kept them on right until bedtime.

She only tried to take them off a few times in the day although I've noticed she keeps looking over the top of them, cheeky monkey!

I know when I got glasses at the age of 12 I hated them for a while - I was so used to the world being blurry, that it made me quite unsettled to see the world in clarity. It's maybe the same for her - she's got used to the world the way she used to see it, and doesn't yet like it clear. Well done on the progress though. She'll get there!

Hello all! We had our first little hiccup last week! We have an african grey parrot called Cookie and DD2 absolutely loves her, they play together etc. DD2's latest thing is posting things into the cage for Cookie to play with - normally harmless but we've been keeping an eye on things. However, the other morning, DD2 suddenly said "there's my glasses, thank you for looking after them Cookie!!" Lo and behold, she had posted her glasses into the cage for Cookie to look after, only Cookie didn't exactly look after them!!! She had bitten off the little plastic bits that rest on the nose and chewed the ends. Thankfully Boots were happy to replace the nose bits and the glasses are doing well and DD2 is wearing them more. What a palaver!!!
