2yo with diarrhoea - when can she go back to nursery?

DD got diarrhoea last weekend, had a couple of days of watery stools & being miserable, but got less watery & cheered up a bit on Monday. Since Wednesday she's still had loose stools (about 3 a day), and isn't eating as much as usual, but is happy enough & running around the house like a maniac as usual Grin

Do you think she could still be contagious?

Although I'm keen for her to get back into her usual routine & go to nursery, I don't want her to make the other kiddies poorly over xmas!

She is due to go back next weds, so hopefully she'll be back to normal by then, but I need to think about making some alternative childcare arrangements as I really need to go into work to finish the things I was supposed to do this week!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Most schools and nurseries ask they have no d and v for at least 48 hours before they go back in.

Standard public health advice is 48 hours after D&V ended, as Sirzy says. Almost certainly nursery policy too.

yeah, nursery policy is 48hrs after last episode of D&V, - but I guess what I should have asked is "what counts as diarrhoea"?!

DH is adamant she she's fine now (because her stools are no longer watery & she's happy enough), but I thought we should probably wait until her poos are totally back to normal?

If she was mine, I would think she'd be safe enough to go back.
