I took my daughter for her hospital appointment this morning and she has been diagnosed with sinisitis/us? She has antibiotics to take for 2 weeks and then we need to go back for more tests in 4 weeks if it doesn't clear up. The referral came about because she has had a constant headache for weeks.

No worries here I promise. I have been prone to this all my life. Antibiotics will clear it up, inhaling steam, especialy with olbas oil will help too. The reason for such a long course of antibiotics is that she will have been suffering with it to a greater or lesser extent for quite a while, so it will take a bit to clear it up.

Its really nothing to worry about - just a complication of a cold really.

Thank you very much.

I feel Blush for worrying but I was upset at MIL's text and got extra protective over my dd.

Thanks again.

DS had chronic sinisitis when he was 9. It took MRI and 6 months to diagnose. He was finally given antibiotics, but they weren't enough and he needed a second prescription to clear it properly.
It is nothing scary, but unfortunately they are painful and also difficult to diagnose in a child. DS symptoms are often just bad breath and headache.
From what I can gather they won't do anything about it unless a child has more than 7 infections in a year.

DS is 15 now and still gets sinnisitis occassionally. We just go to gp for some ABS.

Thank you bruffin. Sorry to hear about your DS. Is my DD more likely to get it again now she has had it once?

Forgot to say DS has lots of allergies which I think makes it more likely to get it. He has rhinitis from hayfever and is also allergic to things like cats.
DH also suffers from it and he had a deviated septum, he finds Sinutab a huge help, but I think that is for 12+

The doctor asked about allergies but so far she doesn't appear to have any.
