Chicken Pox, how long are you infectious before spots break out.

So DS was with his friend on Wednesday and this morning the friend broke out in the dreaded pox. Could ds have been infected or is that too long a period? They were sharing a cup so chances are germs were spread.

Any advice?

I've literally just been asking the same question as my DD's nursery have had one case of chicken pox - apparently the child is infectious 48 hours before the spots break out and then infectious for the whole time the spots are there until they crust over. This is what it says in a book I've got, but apparently there is some dispute about this?! So, sorry this might not have been much help!

Around 2 days before the rash comes out according to NHS info
