My 10 month old dd looks like she may have a lazy right eye. Its not always obvious as myself and my dp, having been wondering if we are just imagining it at times. However my MIL admitted that she noticed it a while ago but didn't want to say anything. It does seem to be in both our families and i am taking her to the GP tomorrow.

I was just wondering if anyone else has any advice or experience on this. What if anything do they usually do?. I know it sometimes can affect vision which is my main concern.

do you mean a squint? Squints and lazy eyes are different but can be related - dd had a squint and it turned out she was long sighted and her vision was poorer in one eye (lazy eye). She has had glasses from the age of 18 months (now 7 years) and we had to do some patching to improve the sight in her weaker eye. She was referred to the hospital orthoptist via the hv and was under their care until recently - now we just go to the optician

sorry it is a squint, going on what i have read. I'm not sure what they can do at the moment as she is so young but if her vision is affected i would rather get it sorted out now. How did your dd cope with glasses being so young?

even babies can wear glasses if that is what is required. DD was actually really good with her glasses and even with having to wear the patch for a couple of hours a day. The orthoptist would test using eye drops that dilate the pupils and can then check the back of the eye and work out what prescription is required. Your lo may not even have a proper squint (pseudo squint) but best to get it checked out anyway
