Chicken pox is tremendously contagious and it's quite likely. How old is your son?

you shouldnt get it as you had it as a child. If your ds was in contact with your grandson in the couple of days before the spots came out then he may get chickenpox too. They are contagious for 1-2 days before the spots come out and for 5-7 days after (until they all crust over). The incubation period is 10-21 days from first exposure

Check his body - there are usually some very tell-tale blisters/red spots. Both of mine have just had chicken pox and were so grumpy and miserable a day or so before they showed the spots.

I would think that if you suspect your child has the pox, I would keep him at home to be on the safe side.

I do think you can get pox again - it is unusual, but can happen.

All I can say, is that there isn't a lot you can do but try to ease the itch - a bath in bicarb, camamine lotion and loose clothing.

unless he is showing symptoms of chicken pox - blistery spots - and is well in himself then I would send him to school as usual as there is no guarantee he will get them at all.
