15 months and a clunky hip - advice please

DD is nearly 15 months - crawled at 11 months, firstly dragging one leg and then 'normally'. Took her first steps about 6 weeks ago but has not progressed past 5 or 6 steps in this time. When she walks she looks like John Wayne with legs far apart. When I change her nappy I have recently noticed that her left hip clunks. It is quite noticeable. I am going to make a GP appointment on Monday but just wanted to see if anyone here has experience. Are clunky hips always something that needs to be treated or can they sometimes sort themselves? How could she have got to this age and it not having been picked up Confused.

HBOB, GP's is the way to go, hope you get it sorted soon, hips can pop at anytime when they're small. I was lucky with dd1, as hospital sent us home, but GP (who'd had the same issue with both his kids) spotted dd1 had hip probs straight away and got us referred straight to hip clinic. If it's caught earlyish, less intervention is needed, try not to worry, it's more common than you realise. (my hip clunks and has never been treated yet!)

Agree, see gp but if it turns out to be more than just a "clunk" or needs more therapy, you might find steps website helpful (not the band!). Just bear in mind that people only post when they have problems, when things are really straightforward they just get on with it, iyswim.
