sore pus spots inside cheek of 2 year old?

she has a sore place inside her mouth, and it is hurting her. Looked inside with a torch and can see four little pus spots beside her top molars. Greeny white pus spots. Rang the emergency doc who said give calpol [as usual] and go in morning if still hurting [passing the buck]

Anyone have any idea? She has no temperature and is bouncing around [still awake!] But it is obviously hurting her.

She needs to see a dentist to be honest rather then a doctor as they are in the teeth region. The dentist can prescribe antibiotics if he/she thinks that it's necessary. NHS direct is your best bet, they can arrange an appointment with an emergency dentist or a someone else. There's always the pharmacist who also offers advice. In the mean time, I know it's going to be difficult but can you encourage her to rinse her mouth with warm salt water and spit it out? I'd do a test run with some plain water. I hope she's better soon.

Thanks belle. She won't understand me if I tell her to spit out the salt water - I've been waiting for two hours for the doc to call me back this morning. I may just take her to gp tomorrow, and if they say dentist we'll go to dentist. She is not too bothered today about it, but I'm just worried about the infection getting worse.

Any spots there are normally quite superficial. If she starts to get a temperature she needs to pop to see a doctor though.

Thanks Belle. The doc eventually rang back and said the same sort of thing. will keep an eye on it tonight and then see what to do in morning.

Thanks so much for answering!
