DS is 16 months old, and has been vomiting since Thurs night. Threw up all of his tea that night, and all of his milk later that night. Then Friday he threw up he threw up any food/ drink he had all morning (was sick 4 times). The food/ drink is not even sitting in his stomach, just coming straight back up. He had regular bits of water, a banana and a bit of pasta yesterday, and today half a bowl of ready brek and a couple of rice cakes without being sick. So, being brave, we gave him mince and mash for his tea, and that instantly came right back up. How long do I leave him before taking him to the Drs. It seems like a bug to me?

He woke up this morning starving, and drank a cup of milk ok, but after throwing up his tea, I can see him getting hungry again through the night. Any suggestions on anything I can give him before he goes up? He wont have toast/ bread at the moment.

He's probably in bed now, but don't worry at the moment. Concentrate on small regular amounts of fluid (any) but ideally dioralyte. If he is bright eyed and alert and having a good wet nappy every 3-4 hours I would just sit it out. The GP wont do anything other than give you dioralyte and check for dehydration - something any reasonable parent can do. Expect the vomiting to go on for 2-3 days, but tail off, if you are unlucky and diarrhoea starts, its basically the same advice. Its not the D&V that makes babies ill its the dehydration.

Thank you. I'm just not used to sick, he has never been sick, ever, so don't really know the basics! Thought it may have been a 24 hr thing, but wish I hadn't given him a full tea as I get the feeling he might have been able to keep down a small amount. I'll know for next time!

I'll get some dioralyte tomorrow. Thanks.
