when should babies stop looking cross-eyed?

dd is 7 wks shld she haved stopped looking cross-eyed by now?

I was told that if my DS was still squinting at 12 weeks to take him back to the specialist for a check. But he had already been seen earlier for a blocked tear duct... so the doc was already able to check the health of his eyes & make sure everything was ok (no cataracts etc).

At 7 weeks it could be just that the baby is still very young... but frankly there's no harm seeing the doc now. Not to scare you but sometimes it's not just longsightedness, it can be other things too.

My DS continued to squint beyond 12 weeks and is now being treated. The younger they catch the problem the better.

DD was still looking a bit cross-eyed at 10 months, took her for an eye test and it was fine, she outgrew it by 12 mths. I was told to mention it at the 12wk mark and did but was told it was normal. I reckon if you're worried at 12 wks ask someone about it :) DS isn't squinting now at 16wks.

Thanks for replies. Mentioned it to GP who said it's not a problem at this age.

By 2-3/4 months i think a baby should stop looking cross eyed. . .my DD was still looking like that at 3 months so i took her to our GP who sent us to the Opthalmologist at the Hospital.
Our DD at 7 months of age had a squint operation and had a really good result. . . .
The surgeon said the younger you take action the better the result.. . .
He said 7 months is the youngest time to operate. So dont leave it till your child is a toddler as the final result can sometimes not be so successful.

My DD has lovely eyes now, after patching the weak eye as a toddler and glasses from the age of 3yrs. She is 20 yrs now and pretty pretty. ...
