My ds is 6mths and has a tummy bug, sick on Wed and the runs since yesterday. He is taking fluids in the form of breast milk. I know that milk is not the best thing to take but it's the only fluid he will drink a lot of.

Should I be offering him his solids too? I know that as an adult you should try to stop eating as it seems to "feed the bug". I'm just not sure what I should be doing for my baby. I did phone the Dr but can't remember what he said or even if I asked that question Blush Confused.

He is having wet nappies so I know he is not dehydrated.

Anybody any thoughts?

breast milk is the best thing you can give him, just keep offering him the breast, if he wants solids I'd give them to him, breadsticks or a bit of dry toast. I'd keep away from dairy though.

Hope he's better soon, my 4yo has a V&D bug atm and I'm waiting for the 2yo and 6mo to come down with it any minute now.

Thanks for your reply. He's not interested in food just now any way. It's been a tough few weeks as he's just got over chicken pox.

I hope your 4 yo gets better soon and that the other 2 don't catch it and if they do I hope it's not too bad.

my DD (also 6 months) had this a couple of weeks ago. Doctor advised to keep her milk up as much as she would take, offer water in between times and if i thought she was hungry to offer her apple, banana or potato as all are "binding" foods and might help to firm up the enormous amount of liquid poo that was coming out of her at the time.

I did offer her those foods. Had a mild panic attack when the banana came out in her poo the next day (it looks like she had terrible worms). Cant say that those foods helped but i dont think they hurt either and they did seem to satisfy her.

I tried banana at lunch time but he wasn't interested. He did munch suck some toast at tea time though.

My ds1 (10yrs) has it now so I'm just waiting for us all to get it :(
