Ds has always had sensitive skin. We just seem to be going through the docs cycle of diagnoses/creams. We follow the instructions to the letter to no avail. If the rash/infection goes its replaced by a new one. Impetigo, Excema, dermatitus.... We switched to gel free nappies. only wash him with the mildest organic baby wash, recently he's potty trained & that hasn't fixed it.

I really want to get a specialist to look into it. Has anyone else been in this position or recommend a way forward?

Well Henry had a patch of eczema on his back and nape of the neck for nearly a year. We tried countless creams and bath oils etc.

The only thing that i found to work was using Aqueous cream at every bath time as apposed to using creams as such, dont know if you've tried it before but it's a soap substitute so it is completely soap free (no lanolin which is the baddy). You use it as a wash but also on it's own as a moisturiser. However we did use a steroid cream but only for two days at a time that was hc20 but dont use it unless you have to coz it thins the skin skin with prolonged use.

Henry has always had sensitive skin and I use johnsons newborn top to toe wash on him (hes nearly 3) but even with that , i can feel his skin going a bit rough sometimes so i have to revert back to the aqueous again.
Hope you get it sorted.

Poor DC. My DS has a very similar thing on his face and we experienced much of what you have described above (without the nappies Wink).

DP insisted on a referral to a dermatologist who diagnosed it has dermatitis which was getting infected. Prescribed 2 creams, one to be used 3 times a day all the time and one for when it was infected. We are currently dealing with our first infection in nearly a year so very happy.

Our GP kept diagnosing it as Impetigo and told us that a referral was pointless and dermatologist would say exactly the same Hmm.

I'm very glad DP insisted and DS's face has been so much better Smile
