hello, bit of a weird one here, was just wondering if i'm worrying about nothing?

Basically ds was bf till he was 5 months(is now 1.1) and has never had a solid poo..ever!

He has 3 meals a day (with water and maybe a few snacks some days) and a bottle of milk in morning and bedtime, lots of fruit and veg, yogs etc so just wanted to know if any1 elses dc is like this too? I am a worrier i will admit, but when he's having a off day its difficult to tell if he has diarrhea and surely he cant have permanent diarrhea? surely? please??!!

thanx for any advice! x

Is he still in nappies? Squashed up in a nappy all poo looks like it's not solid so may be that when it's in a potty or loo it looks more solid. It's not unusual for poo to remain kind of loose for a couple of years - my son was about 2 before it started being more solid and when I researched it I found that was normal and toddlers often have loose poo as their digestive systems are immature - some don't have solid poos for a good few years! If he is ok in himself, not dehydrated and shows no other signs of illness it's probably just the way he is.... stock up on wipes!

A friend of mine has a DD with coeliacs - she never had solid poos until she started a gluton free diet.

But her DD was ill and was losing weight and if your DS seems fine I would think it is as
Sarah says

My Ds is 18 months and has just started to do some solid poos.
I think you can tell diarrhea as it's more watery and soaks into the nappy not just sits in the nappy ifswim.

ds was like this, until he came out of nappies it was always squishy. i came to the conclusion that, like sarah says, it was just soft and in a nappy got squashed more. once he was going to the loo instead, all seemed normal.

Thanks for the reassurance, altho it is more the watery stuff with just little bits on top so def not just got squashed as its not thick at all.

He is a really happy baby, hv said on his yearly weigh in check thingy he's slightly underweight but nothing to worry about and to weigh him again in 6 months. so cant be worried bout him if she was happy to leave him for 6 months! although i total forgot to bring this up and quite frankly, she's useless anyway!!
