Wheezing 1 year old

My 1 year old has picked up this awful cough that's doing the rounds, except in her case rather than coughing all the time she is mostly wheezing. We're offering her lots of bottles, taking her out for fresh air when she gets more short of breath and trying to keep her as relaxed as possible, but is there anything else I could be doing to help her? I'm finding it quite hard to deal with this because I can see how uncomfortable she is, and as a former asthmatic I know exactly how she feels. Sad No temp today, but last night was a doozy. I'll be taking her to the GP tomorrow but what can I do in the meantime?

Thanks

I wouldn't wait till tomorrow - I would take her to WIC or A&E now.

As a nurse I would say get her seen today either at A&E or out of hours Drs.
Wheezing at 1yr old could be the start of bronciolitis or croup and can progress quite quickly with shortness of breath and problems feeding leading onto dehydration.

Sorry dont mean to scare you but its very different to wheezing in adults because of the speed it can deteriorate.

Take her to be seen. She is very little and I wouldn't take a chance on her getting better on her own.

She probably needs steroids.

Hope she is better soon. It is horrible to see them struggling.

Let us know how she is.

Thanks all.

A mate who's a paed was home so she's been round (thinks DD has a bad sore throat and croup) and after an hour sat in the steamy bathroom eating ice lollies DD seems far better and scoffed some dinner. Phew!
