How to treat a mouth ulcer in an 8yr old - Bonjella's not allowed right?

My 8 year old DD has a mouth ulcer but I seem to recall that children under the age of XX aren't allowed to use Bonjella any more. So what can I do to help her?

TIA.

I have found Iglu much better at relieving mouth ulcers. I dont think there is a significant age restriction.

Bicarbonate of Soda in this house.

Anbesol - think its ok for babies so def should be ok for an 8yo

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 27/10/2010 21:39

Swill a bit of dilute tcp.

TCP on a cotton bud. Dab on.

I have suffered with mouth ulcers since I was a child (especially when stressed). I always had a mouth rinse that came in a sachet (Oral B, not sure if you have that in the UK?) and then used the equivalent of bonjella.

Failing the mouth rinse - my mum would do a fairly concentrated salt solution for me to rinse my mouth with, and then the bonjella. This is after a teeth clean btw, and then no water for a little while.

Salt solution gargle and rinse.( Not too salty or they gag!)

Snowstorm · 30/10/2010 10:46

Hmmm maybe I should try the salt solution ... only problem is that if I get it wrong then DD will probably never trust me again - she seems to have developed a phobia about being sick (or other people being sick) and I don't think she'd exclude gagging from that category!

Rinstead pastilles...

Teething powders work a treat. I have just put one on mine Blush

I think it' just the bonjella 'cool' that kids can't use. Didn't they completely withdraw that anyway?
