My 4 week DS has thrush and doc has prescribed nystatin drops for him, and daktarin for me. But he has given me the oral gel - surely oral gel isn't meant for rubbing on nipples??

Does anybody know if this sounds right?

When dd had thrush also at 4 weeks, the pharmacist just gave me daktarin oral gel for baby. It cleared up in about 1 day and a half. I think that the oral gel is meant for your nipples as technically you are not meant to give it to newborns. Clear as mud? Grin

And by "technically" I mean not at all...

Yes - rub the oral gel on your nips. Baby will get a dose when he/she feeds and it will help your nipples (because it works topically) or so I am told.

When my DS was born, he was in neonatal and because he was on antibiotics he was given daktarin to prevent thrush.
