Canesten cream - OK to use 2% version?

Hallo there

My wee DS has a sore botty, which the HV thinks may be a fungal infection - I tend to agree as it's spread across his bum in waves. She recommended Canesten cream, but said if I wanted to buy it without a prescription I'd need to say it was for me.

So I popped to pharmacy with baby in sling, said I needed it, and all was going swimmingly at first. I think the assistant had worked out what I really wanted it for as she had selected the weaker, 1% Clotrimazole, version which is for fungal rashes - oh, if only I'd just said I had athlete's foot instead! Then the pharmacist suddenly got all involved and double checked it was for me, for thrush. I couldn't really back down then, so she sold me the 2% version instead.

All very embarrassing, and now I don't know if it's OK to use the cream that I've got on the little one. Is it too strong? Does anyone have any idea?
