My sis won't vaccinate her DS, Links, pls

My sis and I are not often in touch, she lives abroad. We just spoke and she told me she is not vaccinating her child, 3, anymore. He just had the baby jabs and he had such bad reactions that she is only treating him with homeopathy now. Not antibiotics or even paracetamol.
I had homeopathy in the past, but I read Ben Goldacre's book and I had serious doubts about homeopathy.
Can anyone link to a site where it explains about homeopathy and the need for jabs??

I'm sure if your nephew needs iv antibs urgently then she will agree. We don't give antibs unless absolutely necessary. Ds2 is 8 now - nearly 9, ds3 5- neither has needed antibiotics yet. Ds1 had about 8 courses in the first 2 years, hasn't had any since we changed our mind (so for 9 years).

Antibiotics can be lifesavers but have often been overused -nothing wrong with avoiding medicines when you can.

Our approach is just to ask 'is this really needed' before giving anything. Your sister has just had a big scare so I'm not surprised she doesn't want to go near medication at the moment.

She won't have taken the decision not to vaccinate lightly at all, I think you should curb your judgemental attitude. I too would be more concerned about 'no medicines ever again' and if you are to send her links/have sent her links, concentrate on that. Presumably she would consent in an emergency/if her child were really ill, as she seems to be striving to do what is best for him following her early experiences of his reactions.

i would imagine she has agreed to send you links because she believes you have no idea about any of the anti-vaccination evidence, whereas, she is unlikely to be unaware of the general existence of calpol
