Not quite sure how, but some how dd dropped a chair on her toe last night. It came up with a bruise on the toe and the base of the toenail straight away.

This morning the bruise on the toe has gone and it just looks red and sore but the whole nail has gone from purple to almost black.

My real problem is dd's should be out with the school this afternoon and this evening. This means lots of standing and walking. Dd wants to go but at the same time is worried about her toe plus not sure if she will be able to bear wearing her shoes.

What's the best thing to do?

The black nail might be pooled blood underneath, i would take her to a&e/walk-in centre to get it checked. If it is blood they can lance the nail to let it escape, if not they can buddy-strap it to make it more comfortable. Toes are buggers really - they might be small but they give a whole lot of pain!

That sound nasty surely that wouldn't the hurt big time. I think dd would be happy to hobble for a few days. Is their some way I could strap it for her as at the moment she finding even her socks hurt.

Honestly Lexcat, she will be much more comfortable if its lanced. Think of it as bursting a big spot - a moment of pain, a lifetime of relief!

Dd managed to get some thick sock and sandels on just to prove she can (tried shoes to much pain) so she now really want to go with the school. Question is will it do an harm or should she keep the weigh off the foot. We have no plans for the next few days so she can put it up then.

Try it and see. If she's ok with it then let her. Hopefully it will disperse on its own in a couple of days. Hope she enjoys her day.
