DD has just started to get a bit of cradle cap, it's not too bad but would like to nip it in the bud.

Anyone know whats best to get rid of it? Natural or chemical i'm not fussy.

Ta muchly

olive oil. rub in, comb out. A plastic nit comb is good, if you can face it.

Great, thanks.

I knew there was something to do with olive oil.

Make sure you shampoo the oil out afterwards or you'll end up with a stinky baby. :)

I know it sounds bonkers, but the nitty gritty nit comb is brilliant for gettign out cradle cap. I wouldn't use it on a newborn (spokes are quite sharp), but I would on a toddler.

Vaseline at night, wash ahir in the morning gently scrubbing the hair with a baby toothbrush, do for a week and even the worst cradle cap will be gone! My gp recommended this and it was fab!

Hi, you could also try Dentinox shampoo. My DD started with Cradle Cap when younger and it worked a treat. Just use it like normal shampoo - you can get it in supermarkets and chemists.
hope this helps

Oilatum scalp treatment shampoo. ds has had cradle cap on and off for months now (he's nearly 3!) and have tried olive oil, dentinox, special cradle cap cream from boots, nothing seemed to work. (ds's hair is quite thick and so difficult to get to the scalp iyswim)

this shampoo is pricey but blimey, got rid of it from the first time we used it. you have to massage it in and then leave it for 5 mins and then rinse out. the cradle cap is completely gone and didn't have to comb it out either. it's amazing!

Olive oil warmed and rubbed in and washed out next morning with mild shampoo.

I tried olive oil, dentinox, combing, vaseline - everything. The only thing that worked was tea tree oil shampoo.

Thanks everybody Grin Lots of options

She is a bit of a baldy so we don't use shampoo, it just gets washed with the bath water that has a wee bit of baby bath in it.

It's really bad to pick it off isn't it? But sooooo satisfying

Yeah, take a baby, rub in olive oil, bit of garlic, bit of rosemary, maldon sea salt...

The Boots own brand cradle cap cream worked best on DS. It's a really thick moisturising cream. I rubbed it in at night, washed it off iin the morning and it was all gone.

But yes, picking at it is loooovely...

I have used Lansinoh (sp?) with great effect.
