can 6yr molars/teething affect speech?

Dd1 has her first 6yr molar, gum quite swollen but she says it doesn't hurt.
In the last week I (and school) have noticed her speech slurring. She can't say "ch" (comes out as "sh") and some words are drawled instead of pronounced clearly.
Someone please tell me this is because of teething.
I'm really fretting.

Thanks Pixie. You could be right. She has a narrow jaw so maybe all those teeth moving about are likely to be causing a problem. Just in case I'm mentioning it to other dds speech & language therapist when I see her next week, and as dd1 will be there at sister's appointment she can hear her and give her opinion. Dentist is a must too.

I'm fretting because the anti-epileptic meds dd1 is on lists slurred speech as a side-effect Sad). Fingers crossed it's teeth.
