Knocks to the head

DS is 1 and walking (has been for nearly 2 months now). He's still a bit wobbly when tired so is prone to falling over.

This morning he fell over and knocked his cheekbone on the skirting board (a bit sticks out on the corner). I put a cold compress on it and he seems ok, just a nasty bruise and a bit of a scratch.

I'm toying with taking him to the minor injuries unit just to make sure he hasn't fractured it, but DH thinks that it's just a nasty bruise. I'm sure he's right - but it was because I saw him fall (and couldn't stop him :() that I'm not sure.

I know toddlers are always covered in bumps and bruises, but when do you go to A&E? (He's not been sick, or seemingly unsteady etc etc).

I'm not sure - if he seems fine now then I don't know if there's any reason to be worried. He didn't hit his actual head, did he.

DD had lots of bumps and scrapes when she started walking. We took her to A and E when she banged her forehead quite badly, it swelled and looked horrendous.

No not his head, just fell forward and knocked his cheekbone. Just a nasty bruise now and he's tucking into lunch so ok. I've tried to touch the area and he's not flinching or complaining so I think ok.
