I have never posted before so hope I get this right.
I just can't seem to stop worrying about my children's health. Even when its just a cold I always start to worry that it might be something more serious! Help

Entirely normal. Don't worry. The fact is they will get sick. A lot. Almost continually it seems for the first three years. But with very rare exceptions, there are little more than carpet stains to show for it by their fifth birthday. :)

Normal. At the same time it's good to realise that the same symptoms can have a lot of different reasons and most of the time they are not sinister. Are you hypochondriac worrying about your health a lot as well?

Thank you. My little ones are 4 and 5 and full of life so you'd think I'd be use to it by now ! Just having a bad day and the thought of anything happening to them is too much to bear. So why torture myself by imagining allsorts!!!

You sound like you are having a horrible day that's all. Hope it's better tomorrow :)

Emma54 I know exactly how you feel, I worry constantly about my DD's health and my own tbh!

PixieOnaLeaf I have just looked at your link to health anxiety and a lot of it sounds familiar. It can make you feel very alone sometimes and it's good to know that I am not going mad! Thanks :)

Thanks Pixie! I could hazard a guess at some of the reasons why I am like this (I had a heart condition as a child that was successfully treated I might add but which meant I was wrapped up in cotton wool, various family illnesses over the years etc). I know I need to change my mindset....I had never really considered that maybe I might need a bit of help to do that. Depression runs in my family and I think this is the way it manifests itself in me.

So sorry to hear that Pixie. It must have been a dreadful time for your family. I think your reaction was totally understandable given the circumstances.
I am definitely going to look into CBT :)

Hi,

Thanks for all the answers. My husband has been away so I have not had access to the computer. I have suffered from depression on and off and I think my anxiety floats around and fixes itself onto different things. At the moment its my children's health.

Pixie i am so sorry that you and your family suffered such a terrible tradegy. I am sending you a big hug.
