Should I get DS2 seen tonight be some medical person or see how he is tomorrow?

DS2 has had a bad night last night. He woke on and off from 11.30 pm till we got up at 6.30 am. In the end he slept in our bed with us.

Yesterday we noticed tahat he kept head butting things. Last night he was repeatedly pulling at hs head/hair in the same place he headbuts.

Today there has been more of the same with him pulling at his hair, so hard it makes him cry. Plus more headbutting...

He is 16 months old. I am thinking of taking him up to casualty as we are worried about him... Especially as it seems to be something to do with his head.

Or is it OK to wait till the morning?

Can you ring your GP and see if what they say. Our GP surgery are still there until 6.30 (Assuming your are in UK?)

Do we still have an NHS Direct? could you contact them?

Hope you get it sorted.

Go now

ShowOfHands · 05/10/2010 17:58

Phone somebody now. Have you your out of hours number? He's in pain. Has he had some painkillers?

It's probably an earache or similar.

MumInBeds · 05/10/2010 17:58

If you are worried then take him to see either GP or A&E tonight, or at least call NHS Direct.

cece · 05/10/2010 18:41

Thank you.
Called the GP surgery and they saw us straight away. A thorough examination later and the diagnosis is some sort of virus with a bit of ear ache and a sore throat. Poor lamb! Lots of calpol tonight... (obviously wihtin the limits.)

Have you infant ibuprofen too? I often find that much better for earache type pain.

ShowOfHands · 05/10/2010 20:07

Meant to say, glad he's okay. Smile

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 05/10/2010 20:10

Oh bless him, poor little thing. So pleased they've been able to tell you what it is :)

Fingers crossed for a better night's sleep tonight!

Your poor LO, my DS used to suffer with earache so I do sympathise.

Just to add, I've found that double dosing with the calpol and ibuprofen (so that he has one or the other every 2 hours) helps make sure that there's no pain as one of them wears off.

Good luck Smile

cece · 06/10/2010 12:19

Thanks I double dosed with the calpol and nurofen and he managed to sleep through from 9 pm till 6 am.

He seems much better today. Currently helping himself to a bowl of Cheerios Smile

Good stuff, glad he's feeling better. It's great when it eases as quickly as it arrives.
