anyone know about lactose intolerance after a nasty bug?

DS is 10m, and had a nasty bug this week which nearly had him admitted to hospital. He perked up after some tlc and 5ml of diarolyte throughout the day, and seemed back to normal quickly.

However, he still has quite foul poo, is very very windy and unsettled, and has thrown up twice during the night. I'm wondering whether he's developed a temporary lactose intolerance after the bug.

He's on sma milk and they do a lactose free version. Would it be a good idea to switch his milk and keep him dairy free for a bit?

Ideas on what to give him to keep calories up and any previous experience very welcome.

i think after this short a time i would assume that it is still the same bug

we had a horrid one at christmas that lasted ages. once ds2 was over the worst of it we still had sickness every couple of days for the next week or so

so, no, i wouldn't change anything yet. but if it continues after a few weekjs i would reconsider

Thanks. He seems so windy and unsettled wishing I could do something to make the poor we boy more comfy! Plus he had us up from 4am until 6:30.

did he have anti-biotics?

Anti biotics can affect gut flora so he may benefit from pro-biotics.

If notthen, as thisisyesterday says, it may just be he is not fully recovered from the bug

No antibiotics. Got poorly on Sunday/Monday, really washed out and dehydrated on Tuesday. Only really back on his food yesterday. Still looks pale and is clingy.
