22 month Old DD ill after MMR

Hi - I am just looking for some reassurance really.
My DD had the MMR last Tuesday and for the last couple of days she has been a bit off colour, but this afternoon she seems worse.
I have taken her temperature (with a stick on the head thermometer) and she doesn't have a temp but is very warm to touch.

She is very lethargic and just wants to cuddle up. She is also very tired.

She has some areas of rash - does that make sense? Not spots exactly, but some areas on her face that are red circles.

I have done a stupid thing and googled and found stories of babies who have died 10 days post MMR and am of course now bricking it.

PRN

You will feel much better if you nip down to the outofhours doc or A&E or whatever and get her checked out.

It is probably a normal reaction, or it could be a bit of a virus and the MMR is unrelated.

Either way, with a child of that age, only a check over will put your mind at rest.

Hi, I really would try not to worry as they do say that a child can develop a fever after having the MMR or other vaccinations. My ds was like you have described after having the swine flu jab. That said, I would still get her in at the doctors tommorow for a checkup and if her condition worsens or your really worried just take her to the out of hours gp.In the meanwhile just give her the usual calpol and strip her down.Hope she's ok soon.

Thank you both.

I have given Calpol. Under normal circumstances I don't think she is ill enough for A & E - so will leave it till tomorrow and make a Dr's appointment if she is still unwell.

I was warned by paediatrician that after jab dc would be off colour and about a week later they could develop a usually light form of (I think it was measles, one of the three in the jab anyway) and after two weeks the other one and after three weeks the remaining one. He also said that it would be very rare to even get a light form of all three, but just to get one did happen regularly but they will recover quickly. Also, told to give calpol to ease discomfort and if fever calpol and if necessary calprofen. Still, if you are worried I would see an out of hours GP.

It's a positive sign in that if it is jab related it does mean the jab has probably worked.

The red patches on her face are prob because she's hot. There are lots of viruses flying around at the moment (we've all had heavy colds in this house) so it may not be related.

Keep and eye on her, if you get concerned don't hesitate to see a doc but I wouldn't worry particularly from what you've said.

If you want to report it as a potential reaction you can do that here

Calpol seems to have eased it a bit. She is brighter now and has more energy and is playing a bit more.

saintlydamemrsturnip that site is really interesting. Didn't even know it existed. I will take a proper look and report later.
And you're right - it is a positive sign that it has worked and will hold on to that!
