Hi,

This is going round my son's class at the moment, my son has skipped it so far, but dd has it for second time, she is 16 months. Only very few spots this time compared to last time though and no fever, not poorly etc.

Anyone elses dc had it more than once, I kinda thought she'd be immune now, but I guess not.

Thanks

Yes !
My DD2 has had H,F & M twice - she was the first child the G.P. had ever seen to have it twice - how special Wink !

The second time it was very mild - not many blisters and fine in herself . It was just really annoying to be unable to mix with other kids for a week.

The doctor said she possibly got it twice because she was still being breastfed the first time , so that would have helped her recovery rather than it being entirely down to her own immune system , therefore she didn't have total immunity to it after the first bout and was able to catch it again, IYSWIM ?

DD1 didn't get it either time so I think she must have a good natural immunity .

There are several viruses which give exactely the same symptoms (at least 2 common ones and may be a few more). Your GP should be better informed than that.

So it is quite common to have it several time (once for each viruses), as having it once doesn't mean that you can't catch the other viruses.

Also there is some very mild reactions in some people, so they can actually be "sick" without any symptoms (really good strategy for a virus to spread around).

Yeah couple of my friends kids have had it twice, my ds' friend who I assume she caught it off has had it twice.

Not gone to GP as know what it is and they do not want contagious kids there, whn she had it before I thought chicken pox first and they did not want to see her.

Thanks for your help
