Why do my children ALWAYS get...

...what is 'going round'? Here we are again, 3 months after the last bout of puke, DCs 2 and 3 are sick. This has meant

1 No proper sleep since Thursday night (when DC3 began to be ill).

2 A day off work when I have only just gone back for the second time after DC3 was born (had to leave work temporarily to sort out childcare issues but had at least 2 days off to deal with ill children during my first return to work which lasted 6 weeks). Probably wont get paid but will have to pay CM. Also feel v. embarrassed facing my colleagues with the same old thing going on.

3 Now just waiting for DC1, DH and / or myself to get ill; more time off work, more washing.

We all wash our hands regularly but somehow the lurgy manages to get to us every time someone mentions that sickness is going round the school.
I was never ill this often when I was a child , I sucked my thumb and wasn't a great hand washer, truth be told, so really I should have been sick more often than I was. Also just cos I was sick didn't mean that anyone else in the house was poorly too. Whereas chez Frog we can't possibly have only one person sick at a time!
Feeling v. sorry for myself and as usual questioning what I have done wrong?

Oh and as soon as I think they're getting better, they go downhill again. Somehow wouldn't mind so much if ill health would fit into some sort of GF 7am-7pm routine....I just want a night (or two) of uninterrupted sleep.

What's their diet like? Do they get enough vit c?

Frog253 · 26/09/2010 21:47

Yes they are good eaters, better than I was as a child. They eat plenty of fruit and veg. Is there a link between lack of vit C and sickness then? Also DC3 is still bf and that's supposed to be fab stuff isn't it? Am doubting its benefits atm though.

Oh and I thought DC3 was better today (hasn't been sick for ages) but he was sick at the CM's. DC1 is ill as is DH.

mine still get everything going. I blame the gremlin on top of my house.....everytime there are bugs, he grabs them and throws them at us as we walk out the front door

we are in the midst of the tummy bug and cold doing the rounds at the moment.....I swear people think I have a special lab under my house festering viruses!

Frog253 · 27/09/2010 16:56

Glad am not the only one, although it feels like it sometimes.

well, we are currently nurturing the sick bug.....me and the boys all last week, now DD3 has it and no doubt it will do the others before it mutates into some other new bug

I have been giving dd a vit C and zinc tablet every day, and she has been having ecinachea twice a day. Both are supposed to boost immunity, and she hasn't had the usual back to school colds and tummy bugs.

Also, have made a real effort to get her to bed by 6.30 so she doesn't get run down. She is 5 and needs her 12 hours!

Frog253 · 28/09/2010 12:37

Now I've got it which the worse because I have look after the children and try and get better and all I want to do is stay in bed. DH has been great today though and only just gone to work. I must be feeing a tad better otherwise I wouldn't be on here.
