Grey tooth after a bump....

Hello. Two weeks ago my daughter who is 3 bumped her tooth on a plastic seesaw. It was her front, middle tooth. The gum bled for a bit and looked bruised for a few days. Now her tooth is starting to look grey. Reading around on the net it seems the root may have died. I'm really upset :-(
I intend to speak to our dentist on Monday. I just wanted to know if anyone has any good or bad experiences with this.
Thank you.

My niece's tooth turned grey after a bump but came good after about 6 months- I think they can reattach to the nerve somehow (but no expert so not sure how it works!). Hope it is ok! My DS chipped his front tooth I was so upset for the first few weeks but now don't really notice it. I would def take to the dentist so they can keep an eye on.

My daughter hit her two front teeth falling up a step (age 3)and they turned grey, then managed to chip the corner off one when her big brother (then aged 5) bumped her into the bathroom basin. Dentist said not to worry it wouldn't affect second teeth. Fast forward 9 years, she is now aged 12 with two beautiful white front teeth - I was so glad to see the back of the old ones, as I just hated people thinking she had terrible teeth.

I threw a wooden brick at my brother when I was 4 and he was 2. One of his front middle teeth went an appealing shade of greige until it fell out a few years later, which was annoying for my mother, but it had no effect at all on his adult teeth, they're absolutely fine.

My DS did this (when he was about 18 months old) to one of his top front teeth after standing up in the bath and slipping. It didn't look very nice but stayed put without any problems until it's natural end around 8 when his 2nd tooth came through.

Dentist said no point taking it out, would just allow other teeth to move, closing the gap and causing more hassle later. He did say there was a slight risk of damage to the 2nd tooth which worried me but it was fine.

No, it's not lovely but it's not usually permanent either so try not to fret.

DD bumped her front tooth about 6 months ago. I read all the internet articles and was absolutely convinced that she'd lose her tooth, and so on... (she is also 3), but after 6 months it has now gone just a shade darker than the original colour. It'll never be perfect, but unless you look close up its not at all obvious.

Hope your DDs tooth does the same.

The dentist won't be able to do anything, my dd bumped her tooth age 2, it went grey, but still didn't fall out until the adult teeth pushed through as normal age 6.
Hopefully it will be the same for your dd.

DS had a bruised tooth, it stayed bruised until he lost it natuarally a few years later. Thankfully it was a milk tooth. Dentist will only remove if it becomes infected and a risk.
