3 episodes of tummy ache followed by sickness. Any suggestions?

DD is 9. Since the beginning of Sept she has had 3 episodes of tummy pain. The first two times she was also sick. Clear and 'bubbly'. Today there has been no sickness but she has been on the loo a lot (not sure much has come out though).

Not sure what to think it could be. Bad luck or something more sinister? Thinking if she is still poorly tomorrow then perhaps she should see a doc maybe? Or am I over reacting?

Anyone got any suggestions or ideas?

appendcitis?

ClaraRenee · 23/09/2010 21:53

I'd take her to see a doc, might be food allergy or nerves. Its better safe than sorry. Hope she gets better

cece · 23/09/2010 21:54

I'm thinking appendicitis too! Dam, will get DH to take her to docs tomorrow!

Might be nurves as it started when new term started... although she says she loves school and doesn't want to miss it.

We've got two kind of things sweeping our school at the moment (SW London) - the first is tummy pains and the second is a vomit bug. Don't know whether that bears any relevance at all but thought it worth mentioning.

Hope you get it sorted soon - the dreaded repetitive sore tummy thing is so hard to work out/sort out/diagnose.

tudorrose · 23/09/2010 21:57

It sounds very like the bug we have had on and off since the start of September. Me, DD2 and DP have all suffered like this, it's rumbled on, you think you are over it and it comes back. It's doing the rounds of all the schools, all our friends and their kids have had it. It's horrible.

I don't think you are over reacting, we are also thinking about contacting the doctor for DD2.

Appendicitis is right sided about in line with belly button and hurts on release after you've pressed on it.

cece · 23/09/2010 22:00

tudorrose and snowstorm - that is interesting so maybe not appendicitis...

I think I'll see how she is overnight and in the morning.

"Appendicitis is right sided about in line with belly button "

Its often very atypical in children so don't rely on this

Well meany mummy sent her to school this morning. Apparently she cried from 9 till she was collected at 10.30 am Sad

So she has been to doc. He said not appendicitis. She seems fine this evening again. It is either coming and going or she is putting it on.

Anyway she is back on the movicol in case it is that and having her urine tested for an infection...

Weekend now over. She has been OKish, with the odd complaint of tummy ache. Although she did manage to go swimming this afternoon!

It is now 5 pm on Sunday and she says she can't eat her dinner due to tummy ache - I have iinsisted she either eats her tea or go to bed - she has gone to bed.

She is insisting there is nothing wrong at school.

Doc couldn't find anything specific on Fri.

Logistically it is going to be difficult to pick her up from school. DH is away (he works from home usually) on business all week. I wok half the week...

Contemplating either sending her to school and speaking to one of the teachers/ofice staff and or going back to docs.

?? Any ideas?
