OK I am upset so might not make a lot of sense, I will try anyway.
I had an horrible time at the dentist with DD1 (5.5).
First, her top and bottom teeth come straight on top of each other when she bites. The top ones should overlap. (it is not genetic)
We were previouly told to wait for her adult teeth to come through.
The dentist recons that she can help before by giving her night braces (a bit like rugbymen teeth protector).
But then she went on saying that she can't have them because she breathes through the mouth (she has a blocked nose these days).
We were negligeant parents not to have had her adenoids removed (it was on the cards but the peadiatrician didn't think it was needed anymore), that she will be deformed, the nose area will not grow but the rest of her face will. So she will look very ugly. Considering on top of that, that if her bottom teeth are not 'held' by the top ones the mandibule will grow bigger and her bottom teeth will stick out.
Then her brain won't be oxigenated and she will be very bad at school and won't be able to concentrate and have ADD.
She doesn't have cold as often as she used to (may be 2 or 3/year), she snores a little at night but not all the time. TBH, I don't think she breath trough the mouth all the time either. (but apparently I am a bad mum becuase I don't really know
).
Is it really necessary to remove adenoids if there is no ear infection or colds every 2 weeks. Or is the dentist just a scaremonger?
Yes I will go to see a specialist about it, but want some reassurance/advice.
