Flying after exposure to chicken pox

I just found out that a little girl that my DDs were playing with on Saturday, broke out in pox on Sunday. Neither of my girls have had the pox. We are due to fly to Italy on Friday and to fly back a week on Friday.

So if they were exposed last Saturday when are they likely to show symptoms? And if they break out in pox before we fly on Friday, or before we fly home a week on Friday, are they going to be refused admission to the plane????

Incubation is 10 days to 3 weeks so they won't get it before Friday (from that contact anyway) but may by your return date. Presumably you have insurance if they refuse to fly you back with symptoms (which they should) ?

Mine both came down with it exactly 2 weeks after contact so you may just scrape getting there and back. The airlines can and should refuse to take a passenger with chicken pox which have not scabbed over. (Usually takes 5 days from first spot I think). I would check that your travel insurance covers you for an extended stay as if the spots come out when you are there then you may be stuck for a bit longer than planned.
